This poem describes a different aspect of love
in every verse. In the first verse it says that “Love is a migraine, a bright
stain on the vision, blotting out the sun”(p.318) love is really a bittersweet
experience and this is talking about the hardships that come from it. I see
this aspect of love a lot between my parents. I know for a fact that they love
each other very much but they have moments where they fight like cats and dogs
because love can be a headache.
The
next verse describes how love comes with more hardships like jealousy. A true
lover will get jealous because they love their beloved so much and they want
them all to themselves. Yet, I think there is a fine line where a jealous
person can turn into a psychotic over protector.
The
next two verses talk about how a lover is sleepless and lonely. They don’t
sleep at night because they wish they had their lover right next to them…but
they aren’t there. It takes a lot of effort and lonesome times to find the
right person.
It
ends great. It tells the lover to never give up hope, and to always push
forward. The joy of a lover’s presence makes the excruciating experience not as
important. This is great advice to all lovers because to be in love is no easy
task. Neither lover can just quit they have to have courage to keep going.
